Subject: Re: Medievia's code Base

Medievia started as a graphical icon based game, similar to the early Ultima series of games. In 1991 we started Medievia the text game with Merc Beta b code which was 26,000 lines of code. That code is now gone. That code did not work. That code was not original enough to be patented. That code was not original enough to be copywrited. That code was also simply Aber mud re-tooled. Medievia is now 1/4 million lines of code. DIKU complained to me once back in 93 I think. I talk to Michael Seifert at DIKU on occasion about our businesses we own outside of the mud world. He has no problems with Medievia. The only people who have problems with Medievia seem to be the people who run other muds.

About rumors, we do not allow them. Medievia is a place to have fun. I will be damned if I will have 130 gods work for free for Medievia and for the players have to put up with that kind of rumor mongoring in the game. I cannot control what people lie about outside of the game and what the propoganda and personal vendetta Kavir has against Medievia outside the game. I can control what happens inside this game. Medievia is a great thing and many people love it. I will protect it with my life.

Dear Vryce,

It has been the subject of much discussion in the newsgroup rec.games.muds.diku that Medievia is in fact diku based, yet gives no credit to the diku coders, and accepts donations.

I understand that from the original 30,000 odd line diku base, med has ballooned to something phenomenal.

Nevertheless, the base is quite obviously present.

Today, in expressing my belief over town, a channel which i would liked to have considered private, i found myself de-avatared..

Can you tell me once and for all that Med is not built from any base? (all of which should require recognition of some sort)

And if you cannot do so, without any justifications whatsoever, can you tell me how my voicing an opinion on a private channel deserved being de-avatared? I eagerly await your reply.
